FDA approved the first drug to stimulate the growth of eyelashes
Office of the U.S. Food and Drug (FDA) authorized the release the first commercial product for enhancing growth of eyelashes under the name «Latisse» produced by Allergan. Prescription drugs, you will be on sale in the first quarter of 2009, tells WebMD.
Preparation «Latisse» is a prostaglandin analogue bimatoprost produced in the form of 0.03% solution in applicators. The drug, which should be applied on the skin of upper eyelid at the base of eyelashes, making them a long, thick and dark. In everyday use «Latisse» once a day, before bedtime, the positive effect becomes evident after eight weeks, manufacturers contend.
In some cases, medication can cause side effects such as skin darkening reversible and irreversible century - iris, and conjunctival redness.
The cost of the 30-day course of treatment «Latisse», presumably, will be about 120 U.S. dollars.
Previously, bimatoprost produced only in the form of eye drops called «Lumigan», intended for the treatment of glaucoma. Clinical studies have confirmed «byeffect» drug associated with stimulation of growth of eyelashes.
